Waste of a Day

I was off today, waiting for some solar panel installers to show up, climb all over my house, and install some solar panels. I have to give them credit, they gave me a window of 11 am to 2 pm, and they were here by 11:30. Talking with them, they expected the installation to take about 2 hours, so the given window was pretty good. But there was a slight problem.

Part of the installation included the installation of a fairly large box to the front of my house. It wouldn’t have been so bad, but the only place this would fit was right next to my front door. I’m not sure that I want gigantic box placed right next to the door. I may not sell this place anytime soon, but if I do, I am not sure that it would help in the value.

So, the installers were talking to the electrician, who then spoke to me. There really was no other place to put it. I thought about it for a few moments, and decided against it. I felt bad, these installers are not paid by the hour but by the installation (so they told me), but they actually understood. A little more information should have been provided to me. As they said, my place was the second one to have this issue in a week.

So, instead of having the panels installed like I wanted, I had a day off where I accomplished nearly nothing instead. Still, a day at home is better than a day at work.
